Super Supra Meet

Okay maybe that was a dorky title but for real, this meet was pretty cool. Despite the fact that all the cars looked pretty much the same (lot's of Mk4's) and the fact that it was absolutely freezing outside we had a good time. Our buddy Dalton (a feature to look forward to) drove down with his 1147whp Supra and there were several other notable rides there too. One man came by with both of his MK4 Supra's and one of his two Nissan GTR's... yes you read that right. Another noteworthy vehicle in attendance was a 1979 Toyota Corona wagon sporting a 1jz swap in beautiful condition. We saw several turbo's which could eat a baby. And a quite impressive BMW M3 with a 2jz swap (which people in the know would recognize is out of a Supra so the Bimmer fit in quite well). Another 2jz swap was seen inside of the burgundy Lexus (seen below) owned by another friend, Zeb. The variety of cars in attendance certainly kept things interesting, you never know what's going to show up at a Supra meet.

Introduce Yourself:

My name is Jayson Pearce, I'm 25 years old and I am employed by the United States Air Force at Shaw AFB, SC. I like long walks on the beach, quiet nights in and.....wait....too much?

How long have you owned this car?

I bought this car in October of 2006 (it is a 2007 model)

Is there a unique story about behind your car?

After I bought the car in October, It sat from July 2007 until December 2009 and then seven MORE months out of this year. But whenever I come back I always have new parts/wheels to put on to make it up to her.

Did you consider a different car instead of this one?

When I was looking around, the only other car I was considering was a Honda Fit. That was until I decided to check out my local VW dealer.....

What was your original objective with your car and has that objective changed?

I thought I owned a race car. H&R cup kit, huge sway bars, I was Mario Andretti in a 5 cylinder, automatic Rabbit haha.

What style would you say best describes your car?

I would say my car doesn't really fit into a category. I mean, It's kinda euro simply because of the car, suspension and wheels, but then you have the hardwood flooring, Bride racing seats and Nardi steering wheel. It's just my style I suppose.

Who assisted in the planning/building/modding of your car?

Brandon Baden helped me out a lot when it came to building/modding of the car, but the planning stages were all mine and consisted of: "you know what would be awesome?"

Who or what inspired the direction you took with the styling and modifications of your car?

Jake@WFSU got me started with my first set of wheels, after that it was just a stream of my conscience.

If money were no object, what would you do to your car?

Built 5 cylinder, big turbo, manual tranny swap with straight cut gears. That's it.

If your car had a motto, what would it be?

All it takes is time and a case of beer.

If you had to name your car, what would his/her name be?

Her name is Jessica. Jessica Rabbit

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?

I'd say about a 7.5....but this isn't an outcome per say, it's just another stage.

What is your final goal with this car?

Simply to have fun with it. Something I hope to not lose sight of because, from what I've seen, it is too easy to get caught up and take this way too serious.

When did you begin modding?

-i began modding as soon as i got the car in highschool at 16.

What direction did the car start in and how has it changed?

- I started modding it basically as a car to have fun with, and to try things out on. I admit, it might have started a bit ricey, with the wheel gap and the full fiberglass body kit, but I guess I liked it at that point. It has definitely changed for the better, for some reason I just could never get enough low. Around freshman year in college I changed the front end and started getting more and more obsessed with going lower so I purchased the coil over sleeves, and still wasnt happy with my ride height. So then I looked into modifying the strut, and about a year ago I got introduced to "Hella Flush" and everything changed. haha I'll be getting full coilovers asap.

Where do you see your car going next?

-To the ground. and a repaint, lol Gonna try and clean up the look a bit.

Euro Auto Festival 2010

Ryan Norris attended this year's Euro Auto Festival between Greenville, SC and Spartanburg, SC at the BMW Zentrum.

"The Euro Auto Festival was established to promote appreciation for vintage, classic and antique European vehicles. Each year sees entries from throughout the United States, Canada and England, with a full range of European cars on display, from classic to modern and everything in between."

This year the marquee car was Volkswagen and it seems there were plenty of VW's both water and air cooled in attendance but there was also no shortage of other European makes and models.

Not only did Ryan walk away with some cool pictures he also walked away with an award for his First place Jetta. Congrats Ryan.

When I met Vance at the ISO II meet I had no idea our simple conversation would turn into a freindship, but I'm glad it did. Vance and I now share car knowledge on a regualr basis and as a result of that he has brought us this awesome feature.

What got you into the car scene?

Well it was back when I was about 14-15 years old when I met a very good friend of mine (my bro) he was kinda big in the scene, and his brother had a black 89 hatch si that I fell in love with. We started hanging out, he would show me honda tuning magazines and shit online and I was hooked. Then we would go to the fairgrounds for the drag races (wayyy back in the day when It was cool to do) then head over to special fx in murfreesboro, tn. Then I got super hooked, cars was all I thought about. Then I got my first car a black 89 hatch si with a b20vtec swap and did a few mods to it and it was on. Iv always loved cars seens the day I met my bro. I thank him all the time for getting me into cars. Its a addiction, buying parts, installing them, driving it around, and showing it off at a local car meet. Its something I cant get enough of to this day.

Why did you pick your car?

Hahaha its a pretty funny story kinda. Again back when I met my bro, I went over to his house for the first time he had a superstreet poster of a honda s2000 and I was like damnnnn I LOVE that car, and I would always tell myself Im going to get a s2000 one day. I went through a few cars, first a black 89 hatch si with a tuned b20vtec, then a red 89 hatch std gsr swap, then a white 95 bone stock eg hatch, and threw some work equips and other shit on it, then a 94 rhd eg hatch, then I got my 2nd favorite car, a 00 FBP em1, I loved that car. Then on one horrible feb night it was stolen from my driveway, I was crushed. I got it back a day later, still drove and stuff, just a few things stripped from it. I sold it to a very good friend of mine and I thought about it for a day and went ahead and got my 1st dream car, and thats how I picked my 01 gpw ap1.

What are your hobbies and other interests?

You know I don't have to many. Car's mainly. I love wiring, idk why, alot of people hate it, it relaxes me. And sleeping lol. I do enjoy work sometimes. But a big hobby of mine would have to be sneakers, wiring, cars, hats, and hanging with good friends. Other than that I dont have many hobbies or interests.

Ryan Norris: H2Oi

We're really envious that we weren't able to attend this awesome Volkswagen filled weekend but we are glad that Ryan was able to! He and his friends set out for the long 10 hour drive early Thursday morning to arrive Thursday evening in time to grab some dinner and drinks and start exploring the already Euro infested island of Ocean City, MD.

Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday were all filled with cars and great people. Mr. Norris had the pleasure of being able to hang out with Connecticut's Get Low crew (owners of several notable Performance VW vehicles - the best of the best) as well as a lot of UrbanFlth's own friends including the guys from EuroWise.

Hand's down Ryan's favorite part of the weekend (aside from the never ending picture taking, hanging out and drinking) was the H2O Outcasts BMW meet which he said was very impressive.
(Question: More impressive than the actual show? Answer: Yes.)

Ryan spent his four days in Maryland surrounded by some of the country's most impressive cars as well as some of the country's most awesome people taking some of the country's greatest pictures... we wish we could've been there too!

This past weekend photographer (and friend) Ryan Norris had tons of photoshoots... all of which were hugely successful. This guy knows what he's doing, wouldn't you want to hire him as your photographer?

The first is an awesome VW r32 (which we love) owned by Mike Houck, lowered on Koni coilovers and sitting on 18x9.5 Private Kup wheels and running 215/40/18 Falken 512's.

Next up is a bugeye WRX (owned by Ryan Richey) on Megan Racing street series coilovers, 18x9.5 +35 Rota Torque's and completed with a modest Skunk2 exhaust.

Dirty South Hustle X Urban Flth Meet!

What started off as a slow start ended up being one of the greatest meets. Held in Wilkesboro, NC with perfect weather, and lots of shade people who made the drive seemed to really enjoy themselves. We ran around all day Sunday getting things ready and keeping things rolling and all in all we thought it was a huge success. People mingled all day, and enjoyed the free food, and when we wrapped things up we headed up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for an epic mountain run with approximately 30+ cars.

The whole day was such a great time, we've decided to hold this meet every year and we really hope people will come and enjoy it just as much as the first one.

Jacquelyn-Kate Rosenfeld (known as JK by her friends) is the proud owner of this exceptionally clean red M3 - her favorite color. Mike, from Eurowise introduced us to JK and we were really excited to have a female car enthusiast to feature for once. We emailed with JK for a week or so getting the details all ironed out for a photo shoot and getting to know each other. This is what we found out about her...

What got me into cars:

Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated and in awe of cars. The clean lines, the sounds, smells, and sensations all mesmerize me. I grew up hearing the wild adventures of my Dad, a Legal and Accident photographer for the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Boston where I grew up. He is the best driver I know-- I look up to him in every way. He has a passion, a real joy in his voice whenever he reminisces about his own baby, a 1969 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet with Ram Air. A real powerhouse! When I was younger I couldn’t even imagine that kind of passion, but I knew I wanted it. When I found my M3, I finally knew exactly how my Dad felt.

How I began modifying:
The first time I realized an M3 could look better than stock was in an underground garage up in Boston. A guy in a Titanium Silver E46 M3 drove by me, and stopped to talk. Now one of my good friends up in Boston, his car was gorgeous and menacing at the same time, with BBS RS-GT wheels, custom suspension and a SuperSprint exhaust. There was no looking back!

I realized the Harman/Kardon speakers in my car weren’t cutting it, so I decided to begin making changes. I turned to Sound in Motion, the absolute best high-performance car audio tuner in the North East. They did phenomenal custom work for me and turned my vision into a reality. From there it was an addicting cyclone that I am sure you know well—how can you ever really stop? Most recently, since I moved to Charlotte about 8 months ago, Eurowise has been the undisputed premier European shop to help with maintenance and further modifications to my car.

Other Hobbies:
I am a pretty big nerd! I loved college and I read about two books per week. I love everything about Boston: my family, friends, the history, the bars, and of course the Red Sox! I also love baking cupcakes and going out for sushi with friends.

A few weeks ago we were introduced to Craig Lambert at ISO II by photographer and friend, Ryan Norris who claimed to have a "twin". Fraternal twins, maybe, but the two cars have their own style and personality (see for yourself).

Craig is from Mooresville, NC and for several months over the summer as I commuted to my job I regularly saw a slammed Jetta heading the opposite direction and I hoped that one day I would have the pleasure of viewing the car up close. ISO II gave me that opportunity. After hanging out for a while, several of us -including Craig- went to a nearby warehouse for a post-meet photo shoot and this is what we got...

Our good friend Mike (owner of Eurowise in Charlotte, NC) is the person responsible for introducing us to the owner of this super clean, supercharged M3. Brenton West was looking for some decent pictures of his car, and we were looking for a feature, and the rest is history.
We met Brenton in the NoDa area of Charlotte, NC which, for those who don't know, is a young hip area right outside of the city. Brenton is the epitome of the great people that we meet through the car world, nice, helpful, and just all around fun to hang out with. The shoot took place in two separate locations and was more like just hanging out with some great friends.
But enough about the person and on to the car...

We asked Brenton a few questions about himself...

How did you get into cars? I can't remember when I was first interested in cars/motorcycles/boats, but I do know it was well before I could get my learner's permit. My in-depth interest probably began when I got my first car, a Silverish-Gold on Tan '96 Honda Prelude SI. I had it for a couple of years before I sold it to get the M3. In that 3 year period of trial and error, it had transformed into a JDM ride with an H22A1 engine from Japan, 16" Royal Gunmetal Rota Circuit 8s, 5Zigen Fireball Angled Exhaust, and Neuspeed Sport Springs with KYB AGXs shocks/struts.

Future Plans? I don't have any big future plans for the M3 as I think I like it where it sits today - just need to stay on top of the maintenance. I plan on putting on a roof rack soon as I get more into road cycling, and eventually triathlons someday. I may also upgrade the swaybar system at some point and/or go with wider tires in the back, but that's about it.

Where are you from and what do you do for a living? I grew up in Chapel Hill, NC and moved to Raleigh, NC to attend NC State for engineering. I am now a structural engineer for nuclear power plants, part-time MBA student at UMass, and part-time entrepreneur (when I have time).

Dream Garage? My dream garage? Blacked-out White Land Rover Supercharged Sport, Blacked-out White BMW Alpina B7, Blacked-out White Porsche GT3, a Honda CBR1000RR or BMW S1000RR, and a Moomba wakeboard boat. Guy can dream, eh?

I have a super soft spot for a slammed Miata with a turbo, actually it's more like an obsession. So, it only made sense to feature this dope example of one. When I met Vance at the ISO II meet he was more than willing to answer any questions I had, so I started picking his brain, and this is what I got. With about $2600 invested (car and mods) Vance has his Miata sitting in the 220hp range, thanks to a Greddy td04 turbo, a Megasquirt standalone ecu, and a 3" exhaust.

Interests: I love working with computers, I get to build and be a nerd all day long, best job outside of working on cars. Obviously I love working on cars as well. Here in Tennessee we have a pretty big car scene, but the stance scene is pretty weak, my car gets plenty of hate from the older generation of guys, but I love helping friends cars ZOMGHELLAFLUSH scene.

How did you get into the car scene? I guess it is the same way with most kids my age, I grew up in the "Fast and the Furious" era, starting out young thinking everything with a fartcan and a wing is the most badass thing ever! I grew up in North Carolina then moved to Canada. Moving to canada I got to be around a lot of legit cars like skylines and what not. This changed the way I viewed everything and I just wanted to go fast and didn't care how it looked. Thinking back on previous cars one my favorite cars that I owned was a 1990 Dodge Colt with a 4g61t. It was the most ghetto piece of junk ever but it hauled ass!

After going through some other "fast" cars I bought the miata. This is my first attempt at making a stanced car and not really worrying about how fast it is. By far this is the best car I have ever owned, also the one that is the most fun to drive!

Civics have a huge presence in the readily growing tuner scene. The market for parts is so vast and endless, making these cars easily modifiable.So here's the question; why is it we rarely see them stance'd out? Check out Tony Plong's 1998 Civic coupe rockin' some white 15x7.5 et35 and 15 Konig Candy's bolted on by custom Green extended muteki lugs. Being lowered on some D2 32-way adjustable coilovers helps this Civic achieve the perfect Stance. Sporting some HID foglights, mugen front lip, and roof visor this Civic breaks the necks of oncoming drivers. Tony, props for being different. Keep it moving.

The much anticipated ISO II meet was a home run in every way possible. Amazing cars, awesome people, and lots of fun. Some of the east coast's most noteworthy rides were present at this blow out meet held at the NASCAR Technical Institute. The meet started at 11am Saturday morning and the line of cars to get in stretched all the way down the road. With everything from Honda to Volkswagen and everything in between this meet had something for everyone. We really enjoyed the workshops that were offered that taught beginners about stance and tuning and we appreciated the very fair prices on food and drinks. Every car meet should be this way. Insane Stance and Offset has officially raised the bar on car shows and it'll be hard to beat.

We're already excited to see if there will be another meet soon!

Earlier this year we posted an interview with David Gibson of Autosport Dynamics based in Charlotte, NC. Shortly after we brought you some Formula D, Drift Atlanta coverage and that was the last time we wrote about ASD; I don't know why.

Currently, loved/hated Vaughn Gittin Jr. sits atop the leader board in first place, Darren McNamara is in second, Justin Pawlak is holding on to 10th and Tyler McQuarrie is looking to move up from 12th.

I can't wait to see what these guys do in Las Vegas in two weeks.

I was introduced to these two 350Z's via Wrong Fitment Crew and I have to say, they are definitely repping the Southeast in a great way. The 2003 Pikes Peak white Z belongs to Jordan Piper who is rocking 19" Varrstoen wheels measuring 9.5" up front and 10" out back. Jordan keeps this thing planted to the tarmac via some 215/35/19 Pirelli P Zero Nero's (Front) and 245/35/19 Falken FK452's (rear).

Juan Esteban can be found driving around in his Brickyard colored 350Z sitting on a gorgeous set of Volk TE37's. The Volks measure 19" X 10.5" (front: +12, rear: -16), wrapped in 235/35's.

When I approached Mike Ngo about doing a feature and photo shoot on his car he simply said, "Sure! Let me know when you can pick it up and drive it wherever to shoot it." I was shocked... this guy who barely knows me is going to let me take his stunning M3 and drive it wherever to shoot it? We ended up picking a spot just down the road from his shop, EuroWise (previsouly featured) and pairing the M3 shoot with Dennis Canuto's Corrado shoot. Of course when we scheduled it we had no idea it would be one of the hottest days of the year but overall the shoot was great. Sid Fligel volunteered to do the whole shoot for us and his pictures came out amazing.

This stunning M3 rides on BBS LMs with color matched centers, polished lips, flipped centers for better offset, gold lugnuts and is lowered on Koni TC Kline coilovers with custom front springs. With the suspension maxed out all around, the rear spring seat removed, and 15mm spacers in both the front and rear this car has the perfect stance. But this sexy M3 doesn't just look good... it sounds amazing. Supersprint headers, no cats, and an Active Autowerke rear muffler create the perfect growl as Mike drives by.

We first met Dennis Canuto, the owner of this outstanding Volkswagen Corrado, at Cars and Coffee last month and right away it was nothing but good vibes. A native New Yorker Dennis fell in love with the VW Corrado when it was first introduce in 1990, fast forwarding twelve years to 2002 he finally pulled the trigger and purchased one. In his own words " It's been history ever since". Last year Dennis took first place at the mecca of VW meets, H2o and also took the blue ribbon at Sowo in 2009. One look at this mod ~~list~~ novel and you will see why.

Hobbies: Other than VW's, I like to mountain bike and ski... basically anything that's outdoors. I also like to dabble in photography.

Previous projects: Before the Corrado, I owned a 98 Honda Civic EX Coupe. For some reason, I never got deep into the projects with it.

Future plans: The Corrado is pretty much a completed project. From here on, it'll just be maintenance. My next project will be a 2004 VW Passat W8 wagon.

My name is Rett and this will be my first attempt at blogging. I am the newest contributor to Urbanflth, I will be covering some local cars and local events. I promise to help bring the most unique and eye-catching rides to you guys. Now a little about me... Coming from a small town, with a huge import scene, it really wasn't that difficult for me to get into cars. My father was a gear head and all my cousins growing up were,"Street Racers." After graduating from high-school, I acquired my first car I could call my own; a 2008 Nautical Blue Metallic Scion tC.

The modding life for me happened quickly. It started with the basics; springs, window tint, exhaust, etc. Then, I really got into it after seeing all the plain tC's driving around. I opted for a RS1 full lip kit to set me apart from the others. Complimented with 07 tails, S2000 antenna, and APT fog lights.

I was happy with the tC but after awhile, the look got old and boring. I was introduced into the flush scene by a friend who also shared the same passion as myself. We finally realized that, "WOW! So that's what makes a car so much sexier then our cars!" Before you knew it, I had coilovers, low offset and wide wheels. I was doing fender mods including, rolling, pulling and shaving. I worked hard and slaved for weeks. The end result: an I/S/O feature by Anh Tuan and Steve from Team RPM and also an upcoming feature from Urbanflth. Now all i can say is I'm extremely happy... for now...

Coming out of the Sunshine state Jacksonville to be precise, is this beautiful example of a 2001 Acura CL.With Melbourne red metallic paint off the E92 M3, a custom molded TL lip, and headlights, taillights, and grille borrowed from the 2003 model I'm sure this car gets plenty of looks. Clearly not one to be all show Demetrius upgraded to XS headers, a Random Technology high flow cat, and HKS mufflers to help excrete noxious gases created by the 3.2 liter J-Series. All this plus a set of Gewalt Evolution wheels (18x8 +31, 18x9 +31) wrapped in Falken 912 tires ( 225/40/18 and 215/40/18 ) sure makes for a great car. Future plans include: a 3.6 swap, MP90 supercharger, Work VS-XX or BBS LM wheels and eventually acquiring a 2006 Infinity Q45 to VIP as a daily driver.

An Agressive Tiburon?

Marcel Diaz Perera is an awesome person with the meanest looking Tiburon we've seen. To be perfectly honest, Tiburon's don't generally make our top list of cars but the simplicty yet sheer agressiveness of Marcel's Tibby makes his one of our favorite cars around. Marcel told us about how he has many hobbies but two things in his life are passions... working out... and cars. Cars have always been a passion and at the age of 15 he was already planning on aquiring his mother's 1995 Toyota Corolla, the little money that he made at his job went into this car and it was a never ending project. By the time he turned 19 years old the car had been repainted twice, gone through 2 custom interiors, 2 custom exhaust systems, a full body kit, a JDM front conversion, a full trunk and monitor layout, sported a 680 watt 6 speaker system, 7 inch monitor with DVD, and an engine bay you could eat out of (or so he says). However, he realized soon that he had outgrown that car and once again inherited a car belonging to his mother, a 2003 Tiburon GS. He enjoyed the styling, comfort, price, and aftermarket support so he took over her payments and went to work. Custom made lip kit, wheels, lowring springs, HIDs, custom axle-back, and some minor details later; he fell in love with the ease of customization.

When he moved to North Carolina he decided that he wanted a Tiburon GT manual and the search began again. His criteria included: V6, manual, leather, black paint. After doing some research he found the car he wanted, at the price he wanted and went to the dealership to make the purchase. He admits that after he matured a little bit he realized that he wanted a car that looked like it came off of the showroom floor as designed by the manufacture; a car that looks like what it was designed to be but still distinctively different from the OEM product. In my humble opinion... he achieved just that.

Favorite mod?
As of now my favorite single mod is between the NIA lip kit and the wheel setup. Both complete the car.

Anything you wish you had done differently?
There are really no regrets, just a lot of cursing, agonizing pain during the alot of the installs.

Future plans?
My future plans are pretty basic. The car is nearing its 60k TB/Tune up service. I will definitely get those things taken care of and I also plan on upgrading the clutch. It has been 55,000 miles of no slipping fun. I am lucky to be on the stock clutch, but I do baby the car. Money sense is to ride it to the wheels fall off, but if there is any indication of how maintain my cars, this one will last for quite a while.

Import Alliance Weekend

We made the decision that we absolutely must attend one of the largest import meets in the country a few months ago and booked a room at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, TN right away. As the weekend drew near everyone got more and more excited and last minute details were finished up to get their cars show worthy. We left from Charlotte, NC early Friday morning to meet the ISO caravan in Asheville, NC. The drive was a long one but well worth it and full of great photo opportunities.

The weekend was full of good times and great people. Saturday started bright and extremely early when we left the hotel to head to the Nashville Super Speedway to get in line for two hours in order to get into the meet. We had the pleasure of riding with Flth contributor Ryan Norris in his bagged Jetta and enjoyed watching people's reactions to his head turning car. The meet left something to be desired with the number of less than impressive cars but there were absolutely some awesome rides out there. The number of Honda's far out numbered everything else with a few domestics thrown in for some variety.

We were considering where to go next with the site because we know that we've been behind lately... what with work and having personal lives we've been slacking. While we were thinking we realized that we've featured many pictures from our good friend Ryan Norris but never actually featured him and his awesome bagged Jetta. You may have seen pictures of his car on here before, and you've probably seen it on more well known sites such as speed hunters and stance works; but we can honestly say that we know the guy behind the wheel of this gorgeous dub. Ryan is a really genuine guy with a soft spoken manner but a great sense of humor we thoroughly enjoy working with him. Ryan is part of the tight knit Syndicate 864 group in South Carolina along with the previously featured dub loving couple Sara and Adam Staley and clearly loves the entire VW scene. His biggest passion however, is photography. Ryan is one of the best self taught photographers that we know and he is always willing to offer tips and advice to us in order to better our own photography skills.

We asked him some questions about his car and about himself in a small interview:

Mods?

Air Ride Tech E3 management includes: 3 gallon tank, Thomas compressor, RidePro valve manifold, and the E3 computer with digital controls and gauges. Aero Sport front bags and Air House 2s in the rear. 1/4 inch line on all four corners. Notched frame and a two degree camber on the rear wheels.

Mercedes 18x8F, 18x9R et15, wrapped with Khumo 215/35 rubber

GLI front and rear lips, 20th skirts, wood floor in trunk, plaid interior, intake, exhaust,a lot of little stuff.

What got you into photography?

I got into photography so I could show people how I see the automotive world.

What do you like about working with UrbanFlth?

Get to work with great people, also gives me purpose for going to shows and events, I like being a part of something, which, in the long run may become something quite large.

Future plans?

Bagyard front struts, a new set of wheels, another compressor paired with a 5 gallon tank. I’d like rearrange the setup as well.

Stephen's Subaru

I have been a huge fan of STIs since they came out and Stephen Burke's just adds to that love. Stephen became interested in cars at a young age and when he was sixteen bought a 2002 Honda Civic LX. After becoming bored with driving an automatic decided it was time to step up his game in the form of an STI.

Shortly after his purchase the mods started. Helix DNA Coilovers, Whiteline front and rear sway bars, and whiteline endlinks complete the suspension. Stephen also has some Eibach camber bolts waiting to be installed. Moving to the interior you can find a pair of Recaro Speed seats, Takata 4 point harnesses, and an ARC Titan shift knob. After blowing his stock speakers he decided to upgrade to Boston Acoustic and JL Audio, rounding out the audio system is a Pioneer Avic D3 headunit. Clearly Stephen was not satisfied with the already impressive performance of his STI because he decided to add a turbo heatshield, Bellmouth downpipe, a Cobb intake, and a 3" straight pipe and flashed the ECU with a AP1 stage 2 Cobb AccessPORT. Everything is topped off with a gorgeous set of gold Advan RS wheels which are mounted to the car with some Project Kics Neochro R40 lug nuts. Burke even opted for some Hawk pads to keep his new wheels clean. Other mods include a set of Goodridge SS brake lines, window visors, and a replica V-Limited lip.

Stephen's plans for his car include: headers, FMIC, a wingless trunk, possible new lip (he has Cusco in mind), rear diffuser, and either selling his wheels for some 18x10.5 CCW's or keeping them and getting 275/35/18's. He has a few other plans but he's focusing on paying off the car for now.
At the age of 24 and after only having this car for a short period of time we're sure there are some big things in store and we'll be keeping a close eye on it.

Autopalooza

StreetWise Drift hosts many events locally and we've attended a few but this one was much more than just a drift event; from drifting, to autocross, to drag test and tune, to a car club cruise in this event was one for anyone. We arrived and began walking around looking at the cars in the show waiting for the drifting practice to start and then we made our way down to the track and after spending some time down there we decided to check out the test and tune. We had a great day wandering around talking to car owners and meeting some really nice people.

Eurowise: Pre 80's Meet

A small, impromptu meet was organized at Eurowise in Charlotte, NC for this past friday and when we found out of course we decided to go! We met up with UF friend Sid and Eurowise owner Mike as soon as we got there and began looking around and taking pictures. We had a great time just walking around talking to some really cool people.

Cars and Coffee: June

For several months I had heard what a great meet this was but I was never able to make it out. Fortunately I was able to find some time in my schedule and head on over to what has to be one of the best regularly scheduled local meets. Highlights included a WS6 sporting a rear mounted turbo, a 345whp RSX sleeper, and a plethora of exotics. If you're looking for a meet with anything from classic muscle cars to modern day exotics you need to make it out to Northlake mall in Charlotte, NC on the first Saturday of every month.

Project: Rat Rod

This past week we took a trip up to Long Island, New York to visit some friends. While we were there we had the opportunity to meet and hang out with some new people. It just so happened that the people we were hanging out with had 3 wrx's and a slammed Scion, so we took advantage and snapped a couple shots. What began as a normal photoshoot turned into an attempt at an AWD and FWD drift event. Our friend George has the talent of being able to get a FWD Scion sideways.

His and Hers

I want to be the person who marries someone who is equally as in love with cars as I am; Sarah and Adam Staley are that couple. Living in Greenville, SC she drives a bagged Audi A3 and he drives a slammed Volkswagen Golf. Adam became interested in the Volkswagen scene ten years ago when his college roommate got him hooked and three dubs later the obsession continues. As for Sarah, she lived vicariously through Adam and his vw's until they moved to Greenville, SC and met some others who are into dubs which was when she decided it was time to get her own ride to express her personal taste. When we asked what they love about the scene they both said, the cars and the people (especially the 846 Syndicate - their local vw club). Sarah told us, "These people will drop anything at anytime to help anyone out. I have so much love for them." We also asked what they love about their cars to which Adam replied, "The way it glistens in the moonlight" whereas Sarah simply said she loves hers because it's so sexy (thats why we love it too).

Ryan does SOWO

In my own opinion, the Volkswagen scene continues to be one of the greatest places to be, not only for form but also for function and for some of the friendliest people around. Our photographer, Ryan Norris is the owner of one of my favorite bagged Jetta's and is heavily involved in the VW scene which is a great thing for us because it allows us to get great coverage for awesome events like Southern Wörthersee that we can't personally attend. Ryan cruised down to the small town of Helen, Georgia which honestly resembles the real Wörthersee which is home to one of the largest Volkswagen/Audi shows in the world.

For several years southern Wörthersee has been a place for some of the most impressive VW's and Audi's to be shown. Along with the atmosphere and some of the countries most beautiful rides the people that attend are some of the best around. Being that we explore all different car scenes from Euro to JDM we've decided that the Euro scene is definitely the scene with some of the most helpful people. This year did not disappoint with slammed Volkswagens both air and water cooled of all shapes and sizes as well as impressive Audi's with excellent stance - and the occasional R8. The VW scene is all about the details both inside and out and owners aren't afraid to think outside of the box and get a little crazy and we really enjoy that. It's refreshing to see something new and interesting rather than another mk2 Golf slammed on BBS-RS's (not that we don't appreciate them).

With that said, here are some of Ryan's awesome photos documenting this great show... we can't wait to see what his trip to H2O International in September has in store for us.

Tanner Foust Street Drift

We know that we're very behind on posts so I went looking for a video to throw up here, stumbled across this this one, and decided it was worth sharing. Tanner Foust, driver of the Rockstar Energy Drink Scion TC street drifts on the Mulholland Highway in LA. Foust is currently in fourth place overall in the 2010 Formula D Pro Championship point standings.

Formula Drift Atlanta Coverage!

Along with the Fatlace show this weekend came a major pro drifting event. Formula Drift returned to the site of the inaugural event at Road Atlanta for Round 2: Road to the Championship. Jim Liaw President/Co-Founder of Formula Drift was quoted saying, "It all started over seven years ago here at Road Atlanta. Each year the drivers and teams have stepped it up and the level of competition is as tight as it has ever been. This is a great sign of the constant evolution of this still emerging sport."
Intense tandem action kept the thousands of fans who turned out on the edge of their seats the entire day and on into the night for the final battle. Daijiro Yoshihara and Round One winner at the Streets of Long Beach, Vaughn Gittin Jr. competed in the final battle of the day but it was Yoshihara who's excellent driving skills all weekend long claimed the victory. Gittin did not disappoint however, he landed a spot on the podium for the second consecutive event and retains the lead in the Formula Drift Pro Championship points standings. Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Nissan 350Z proved why he won the event at Road Atlanta last year by out driving Michael Essa for third place.
The drivers and fans could not have asked for a better race day and we were very glad that we could make it down to Atlanta to see this awesome event.

Fatlace One/One Showcase

We decided to take the 4 hour trip down to Atlanta this weekend to check out the Fatlace One/One show and I have to say the quantity wasn't so great but the quality was definitely worth the drive. Highlights of the show included a slammed yellow S2K, a laid out Datsun pick up sitting on an s13 chassis, an LS1 E30, and our very own Ryan Norris' bagged jetta. Gorgeous cars, women, and weather what more could you ask for out of a weekend?

Last month we put up a casting call looking for any car owners in the Southeast who thought they had what it took to make the blog. After a couple weeks of disappointment I logged on to our email and was surprised when I saw a message from Nathan Harris out of Elkin, NC. When Nathan bought this 2004 sunlight silver RX-8 it was completely stock, and in about 1 year he has transformed it into a great looking car. The car shed a few pounds due to the Seibon TS carbon fiber hood and VisRacing trunk lid, these mods also added to the aesthetics of the often overlooked RX-8 platform. A set of Megan Racing lowering springs has this 8 sitting nicely on some Rota Boost wheels ( 18x9 +30 front +20 rear ). Under the hood a K&N Typhoon intake helps the exhaust note heard through the HKS Hi-Power exhaust; and speaking of notes Nathan also has a Kicker 12" Comp sub woofer powered by a Kicker 550 watt 2 way amp inside the car. Nathan is the proud president of 2ND-2-N01 car club based in Elkin and is a great guy who I got nothing but good vibes from when I met him at last weeks ISO meet.
